Allah (الله) is the contranction of al (ال) + ilah (إله). 'al' is Arabic definite article (the), 'ilah' is god, divinity, deity. So, literally Allah means 'the god', thus, God, with capital G. The difference between ilah and Allah is, ilah has singular and plural form while 'Allah' is THE ilah, and always singular. Both ilah and Allah are of the same root:
ا ل ه
'Ilah' is best used to refer to god of many gods, or polytheistic gods, or something that is deified such as Amon-Ra, god of love, god of war, god of fertility, Krishna etc. 'Rabb' is an Arabic word for Lord or in Malay 'Tuan', not 'Tuhan'.
There should be no monopoly of this Arabic word, because it is just an Arabic word. There are so many people think that this Arabic word "Allah" is name of Muslim/Islamic God. It is not. It is just an Arabic word. When translating Arabic books, the word 'Allah' is also often translated. However many Qur'an translations, Hadiths translations and other Islamic books that are not in Arabic just leave the Arabic word 'Allah' untranslated. It is mainly because most translators of those books/scriptures are people from non-Arab countries and believe that 'Allah' is Islamic God's name. This has made the majority people on this Earth, mostly non-Arab speakers think that 'Allah' is name of Muslim/Islamic God/Creator.
Arabs do not have any problems with this Arabic word "Allah", no matter if they are Christians, Muslims, Deists etc because they know it is just a word in their language. Non Muslim Arabs do not use 'ilah' or Rabb to refer to God, they use 'Allah'. But in Malaysia, people are fighting over 'Allah', some Muslims in Malaysia are strongly against non-Muslims using that word to refer to God/Creator. They think that it is name of Muslim God/Creator so they want to defend the holiness of 'Allah'.
These are the faces of the Malaysian idiots. I am pretty sure many Arab speakers who see this will say this is stupid.
The so-called 'Allah' defenders will quote this chapter from Qur'an to justify the banning of non-Muslims from using the Arabic word 'Allah':
قل هو الله أحدTransliteration: Qul: Huwa Allahu Ahad
English: Say: He is Allah(God), The One.
الله الصمد
Transliteration: Allahu asSamad
English: Allah(God), The Eternal.
لم يلد ولم يولد
Transliteration: Lam yalid walam yoolad
He does not beget, nor was begotten
ولم يكن له كفوا أحد
Transliteration: walam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad
English: And there is none who is His equal.
Religious scripture should not be made as lexicons and dictionaries. Qur'an was revealed in Arabic so logically the Arabic word 'Allah' is also used in original Qur'an. Of course you cannot find the word 'Allah' in original Bible because Bible was not revealed in Arabic. The word 'Allah' has been used by Arabs, regardless of faiths, since thousands of years ago, even before the Qur'an was revealed and Prophet Muhammad was born.
This is a video of a Lebanese Christian singer, Majida El Roumi. See, the word "Allah" there? She was singing in a church. Are Malaysians who are 'Allah' defenders going to Lebanon and chase after this woman and churches?

There is also الله in this Arabic Bible passage. Look carefully.
And if you go to 'learn Arabic' websites, Allah is translated into God, with capital G. And InshAllah is translated into God willing. And phrases such as InshAllah (God willing), alhamdulillah (praise be to God), bismillah (in the name of God) are going to be taught in Arabic courses. There is no notice like "ATTENTION! Allah is only for Muslims, non-Muslims have to use 'ilah' " put in any 'learn Arabic' websites.
Are Malaysian Muslims who are 'Allah' defenders going to fly to Arab countries and throw Molotov cocktails to churches there like they have done to a church in Penang?
Stop being stupid, please. I am pretty sure even Arab al-Qaeda members will say those 'Allah' defenders are stupid. If Osama bin Laden was still alive, I am pretty sure he would have laughed his a** off when he learned that some Malaysians Muslims are monopolizing this Arabic word 'Allah'.
Please stop making Malaysia a laughable country.
